Free tools for UK bank risk and regulation
RiskTAE’s free tools apply the PRA’s own rules to figures you enter, with every step cited to its source. The SDDT eligibility checker tests a bank or building society against the nine strong and simple criteria, and the SMF4 planner works out when a new chief risk officer can start acting as SMF4.
They run in your browser, so nothing you enter is sent to us or stored.

SDDT eligibility checker
Check whether your bank or building society meets the PRA's nine criteria for the strong and simple (SDDT) regime, with each rule cited and explained.
02SMF4 approval timeline planner
Plan when a new chief risk officer can act as SMF4: notice, references, the PRA's decision times and the three-month limit.
How they work
Where do the rules and numbers come from?
From the PRA’s own documents, read at source: the SDDT Regime General Application Part of the PRA Rulebook for the eligibility checker, and for SMF4 the three-month limit in section 61 of FSMA alongside the decision times the PRA published in PS12/26.
The tools give a first view from figures you enter. They are not advice, and a firm’s position can turn on detail that no form captures. Each page explains its method and links every rule it uses. If a result raises a question for your board, a partner can take it from there.
For longer reading, our white papers cover Basel 3.1, the SDDT regime, the ICAAP and hiring a chief risk officer, the regulatory tracker lists the dates that matter and the glossary defines the terms.

Turn a first view into a plan
If a tool’s answer matters for a board paper, a regulatory submission or a hire, a 30-minute call with a partner is the quickest way to test it against your own facts.
